RNA plays a central role in understanding diseases and finding new treatments. One example is spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), a neurodegenerative disease caused by incorrect RNA processing in nerve cells. It can be treated with a medicine that consists of a small RNA molecule.
At the booth of the Swiss Initiative for RNA & Disease (SIRD), you can experience nanopore sequencing in real time and learn how RNA splicing works by assembling pre-mRNA into its final form.
You can also test your scientific thinking by arranging research questions, approaches, results and new hypotheses in a logical order.
Come and discover the important role of RNA in biology, disease research and therapy!
